--remote-cert-tls file that is not configged for Windows

Postby FoodMaven » Tue Feb 20, 2018 12:20 am

Please pardon my ignorance. My router's log files have this:

Code: Select all

Sun Feb 18 21:56:07 2018 daemon.warn openvpn(CRYPTOSTORM)[19288]: WARNING: --ns-cert-type is DEPRECATED. Use --remote-cert-tls instead.

and

Code: Select all

Sun Feb 18 21:55:59 2018 daemon.notice openvpn(CRYPTOSTORM)[19285]: AUTH: Received control message: AUTH_FAILED
Sun Feb 18 21:55:59 2018 daemon.notice openvpn(CRYPTOSTORM)[19285]: SIGTERM received, sending exit notification to peer
Sun Feb 18 21:56:00 2018 daemon.err openvpn(provider)[19286]: Options error: In [CMD-LINE]:1: Error opening configuration file: openvpn-provider.conf

Searching for that, the only instance I find of it is:

https://github.com/cryptostorm/cryptost ... s-tcp.ovpn

which seems to be for Windows.

My router's OS is OpenWRT/LuCI. (Linux based)

Does the above file at github work with it? I see the word Windows in it several times. What could I change it to? Linux? Is there a working file I can drop in?

I also looked at this link:

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=3846

I don't see a correlation between my problem and it.

@OP

Use this config file for using the Cryptofree service on Linux-based systems.

I also notice from your log output that you are getting AUTH_FAILED. I'm not sure why you are getting this with the Cryptofree service since it doesn't require a paid token, however you still need to provide a username and password (because that's what OpenVPN expects). Username gobbledy and password gook will do fine. :D

For paid tokens, the Linux configs are here.
